MINEHEAD Reserves made it through to their second final of the season after they beat high flying Galmington 3-2 in the new Presidents Cup at Bridgwater.

Minehead started the brighter of the sides and soon enjoyed lots of the possession with the reliable midfield of Dan Vickers, Sam Heath, Josh Heath and Olly Prescott who broke play up well and turned possession into attacking football.

The front two of Toby Waghorn and Cam March were a constant threat all evening.  Minehead deservedly took the lead when left back Charlie Disney made a strong run from the back and let rip a superb 30 yard strike which finished in the top corner of the Galmington net, giving the keeper absolutely no chance.

Galmington tried to press for the equaliser but just could not get in behind the rock solid defence of Oli Jones, Disney, Luke Heath and JJ Knight who stood firm throughout the half and were supported by the experience of veteran keeper Dan Pawson making his first appearance at any level in four years.

Just before half time a knock to Prescott saw him go off, taking no further part in the game and he was replaced by the excellent Bertie Harvey-Larmar in midfield.  Minehead doubled their lead when great play out wide by March resulted in him finding Waghorn who made no mistake in finding the back of the net.

Galmington got back into the game with a fine strike, but this only managed to fire up Minehead who got their reward when a superb pass from Harvey-Larmar found Waghorn who scored his second of the night and his ninth of the season for the Reserves.

This should have given a comfortable advantage to Minehead but the two goal lead lasted less than a minute when a dangerous cross into their box was met well by the head of the Galmington striker leaving the game on a knife edge. Galmington came hard at Minehead but the midfield and defence were strong.

This included young Jayden Payton coming on for March and in the last two minutes 16 year old Aston Bruford making his debut at the expense of Sam Heath. Minehead got a deserved victory against a good Galmington side still in with a chance of the league title.  The final against Wembdon is due to take place at  Bridgwater Academy on Wednesday, MaY 22.  The man of the match award was joint between Dan Vickers and Cam March.  MINEHEAD: Dan Pawson, Oli Jones, Luke Heath, JJ Knight, Charlie Disney, Dan Vickers, Olly Prescott, Josh Heath, Sam Heath, Cam March, Toby Waghorn, Subs:- Bertie Harvey-Larmar, Jayden Payton and Ashton Bruford (all used)
